SVE System Expansion with Thermal Accelerators
Posted: The Hartford Working Group expanded the soil vapor extraction system in selected areas of northern Hartford. HWG consists of several oil companies that have agreed to clean up refined petroleum products in the ground reported in a 2006 press release article by the EPA. The original SVE system, installed in the 1990s, was fully rebuilt in 2005 and will now be significantly expanded. With the addition of Intellishare's Thermal Accelerators, they were able to provide high solvent concentration processing while delivering very high solvent destruction efficiencies both of which were important on that project. These oxidizers were a special design.
An Intellishare Thermal Accelerators were designed to provide high solvent concentration processing while delivering very high solvent destruction efficiencies both of which were important on that project. The thermal accelerator can process much more solvent than a traditional thermal oxidizer due to it’s unique design to use the solvent as a fuel thus reduce supplemental energy requirements all while safely processing high LEL (low explosive limit) fume streams. The thermal accelerator was a product I developed in 1999 for just such a purpose and the design has been used on many heavily contaminated soil and groundwater remediation projects along with applications in the bio fuels industry.
